Commercial Description:
Specially kilned Crystal malt and a generous portion of American cascade hops are used for a refreshing, spicy aroma, and a long, dry finish. Great with food, it’s big, bold, and bittersweet. Named best beer in Ohio and winner of a Bronze Medal in the World Beer Championships. Four Stars-Great Lakes Beer Guide.

Pours a clear copper amber with a very big airy off-white head that leaves sticky clumps of lace behind as it subsides. Aroma has a nice fresh piney hop character with some mild citrus and metallic notes. Body starts with a semi-sweet toasty caramel maltiness turning more bitter and resiny, with some iron metallic flavor before a drier, lightly bready finish. Would probably be better if they’d check the mineral content of their water. Thanks to OhioDad for the bottle!

Bottle... Lightly hazed amber ale with a mid-sized, fizzy, off-white head. Doughy, citrusy aroma with notes of whole grain bread, lime and grapefruit. Well-rounded flavor. Malty, but lightly bitter with honey and grapefruit rind. Medium-bodied and creamy with lively carbonation. Finishes malty, but not sweet. Thanks go out to OhioDad for the bottle!

Bottle from OhioDad Thanks!

Pours a rich amber with ample head and clinging lace. Aroma is grapefruit and lemon, with a splash of lime. Flavor is very grassy, but not in a disgusting sense; rather, it is grassy in the freshly-mowed-lawn-in-Spring-sense. Nice hoppy tones with clover-like grassy undertones. A very enjoyable beer; I want more from this brewer!

Thanks to OhioDad for this one. Deep amber with an off white head. Looks like honey when held up to the light. Aroma is malty, grassy hops, spices, and actually smells dry. Flavor is malty with light floral notes at 1st. Overall it is smooth, but very generic.

Draft at brewpub. Deep amber color with an average white head that lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate hoppy citrus aroma. Medium body. Good hoppy citrus flavor with a solid dry bitter finish. Good drinkable brew.

bottled. Lovely rich amber, crystal clear with dense head. Nice caramel and vienna malt aroma, subtle citrusy ester aroma. Great clean malt taste with rich caramel and vienna following through from the nose. Moderate carbonation makes for a smooth finish with firm bitterness. Thoroughly enjoyable.

12oz bottle from Ohiodad. Pours a rich amber color with a small off white foamy head. Nose is sweet caramel malt, ligh tapricots, and some faint grass. Taste is malty enough for JoshuaB. Lots of malt, hints of apricots and peaches, with a very fizzy and bitter finish. Hops follow up the swallow and the palate is thick enough.

draft. Scents of Malt and floral hops are present. Reddish brown in color with a short lived off-white head. Some fruit flavors, orange and some malty carmel flavor. Medium bodied with a nice crisp taste from start to finish with lingering bitterness. Not a bad beer.
