Draft at brewpub. Poured black color with an average creamy brown head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate roasted malt, dark chocolate and smoke aroma. Medium body with a smooth oily texture. Medium balanced chocolate smoke flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of long duration. I would recommend this to a freind.

From growler at DLD: Near opaque with a small head and minimal lace. The aroma has notes of milk chocolate, coffee, smoke, grassy hops and a mineral vapour. The taste is mostly chocloate, toasted bread, and coffee with some smoke and light bitters in support. Simple but tasty, left wanting more character however. The body is light and lively. This is okay but needs some more depth.

On tap at the brewpub, sampled at the tapping party. Pours dark brown with a very thin light tan head that has gigantic bubbles. Slick lacing on the glass. The coffee aroma definitely overpowers the smokey character, but does not drown it out completely. Medium-bodied and smooth with a nice coffee flavor, along with smoked malt and caramel. Many Smoked beers taste like licking a barbecue pit but this one keeps it subtle. The finish is smoky and a bit of bitter espresso and hops aftertaste. CBC continues the practice of having much better one-offs than the usual stuff.

growler, via nolankowal. Pours a very dark brown with some mahogany edges under a foamy tight bubbled brown head that faded to a whispy film. The aroma is roasty, chocolaty, and laced with coffee. The smoke is pretty muted, hard to tell where the burnt/roasted malt ended and the smoked malt began. Flavor is clearly much more Porter than Smoked. Lots of coffee, very roasty, some caramel, and bakers chocolate on the finish with just a slight smoke accent. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a slightly oily texture and a little cloying sweetness on the finish. Nice soft carbonation. Overall, this was decent, but don’t see it as passing the test to qualify as a Smoked.

On tap - Pours black with a big mocha head. Aromas of coffee, slight chocolate, lots of roasted malts, and slight smoke. Flavor is all of those listed above with a good overall coffee flavor and slight chocolate. Very well carbonated with medium body. Growler lid doesn’t seal very well My trunk had half a growler of this poured in it.. I liked it so much I almost licked it up!

Growler @ DLD: Poured black with a tan head. Aroma, chocolate, coffee, some smoke to it. Flavors were similar. One of the better ones I’ve had from them.
