Apr 4, 2007 Slight java nose, pretty black colr with a sparkling brown head. Little bit of chocolate malt with a balanced java note. Strong java lingers on the backside. Nice!

Mar 16, 2007 On tap at the brewpub, sampled at the tapping party. Pours dark brown with a very thin light tan head that has gigantic bubbles. Slick lacing on the glass. The coffee aroma definitely overpowers the smokey character, but does not drown it out completely. Medium-bodied and smooth with a nice coffee flavor, along with smoked malt and caramel. Many Smoked beers taste like licking a barbecue pit but this one keeps it subtle. The finish is smoky and a bit of bitter espresso and hops aftertaste. CBC continues the practice of having much better one-offs than the usual stuff.

Apr 6, 2007 Updated: Apr 7, 2007On tap - Pours black with a big mocha head. Aromas of coffee, slight chocolate, lots of roasted malts, and slight smoke. Flavor is all of those listed above with a good overall coffee flavor and slight chocolate. Very well carbonated with medium body. Growler lid doesn’t seal very well My trunk had half a growler of this poured in it.. I liked it so much I almost licked it up!

Apr 30, 2007 Good amount of coffee and chocolate in the aroma.Pours dark brown with a medium tan head.Lots of coffee stood out in the flavor.Medium mouthfeel with a solid coffee finish.

May 10, 2007 Draft @ cbc. Black pour witha light tan head. Aroma of light chocolate, cofee, some smoke and roasted malt. Flavor of smokey malt, light coffee, and bakers chocolate. Medium body, toasty, smokey and a bit dry with a bitter/roasty finish.

Apr 30, 2007 From a growler at dark lord day. I think OhioDad offered this up, thanks! Decent nose malt, chocolate, coffee, and smoke from the beige head floating on top of its dark brown body. Chocolate malt flavors, bakers chocolate, did i say chocolate? finishes slightly dry and bitter. Good beer, it just needs a little more complexity.
