Columbus Brewing Smoked Java Porter

On tap at CBC. Very roasty aroma, chocolate coffee. The smoke is a tad overbearing. Very intense coffee flavor. Decent

growler, via nolankowal. Pours a very dark brown with some mahogany edges under a foamy tight bubbled brown head that faded to a whispy film. The aroma is roasty, chocolaty, and laced with coffee. The smoke is pretty muted, hard to tell where the burnt/roasted malt ended and the smoked malt began. Flavor is clearly much more Porter than Smoked. Lots of coffee, very roasty, some caramel, and bakers chocolate on the finish with just a slight smoke accent. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a slightly oily texture and a little cloying sweetness on the finish. Nice soft carbonation. Overall, this was decent, but don’t see it as passing the test to qualify as a Smoked.

Draft @ cbc. Black pour witha light tan head. Aroma of light chocolate, cofee, some smoke and roasted malt. Flavor of smokey malt, light coffee, and bakers chocolate. Medium body, toasty, smokey and a bit dry with a bitter/roasty finish.

Tan head, dark brown color. Strong coffee aroma. Can taste the smoke and the roasted malts.

Pours an opaque black with a light brown head. Aroma is of smoke and coffee. Flavor is coffee, slight ash, and some roasted malts.

Draft at brewpub. Poured black color with an average creamy brown head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate roasted malt, dark chocolate and smoke aroma. Medium body with a smooth oily texture. Medium balanced chocolate smoke flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of long duration. I would recommend this to a freind.

Shared by OhioDad. Lightly smoked coffee aroma is nice. Black body with a thin head. Medium palate. Lots of cappuccino flavors with just a hint of smokiness to be found. Interesting, but just not strong enough. Perhaps it’s the beachwood...

A very light aroma but had a light amount of smoke to it. Flavor was smooth coffee and chocolate.Allright for being CBC.
