bgburdman9 (822), Columbus, Ohio, USA May 17, 2009 Had on cask at bodega. I was not told that this was called turkey neck ba ris but just bourbon imperial stout. Poured black with a decent size head on it. Aroma was of chocolate , roastiness and some weird butterscotch notes. The flavors in this one were not the normal bourbon notes i get in imperial stouts. This just had a presence in it that I did not enjoy that much. Tmoney99 (4652), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA May 15, 2009 Draft sample at MRAF 2009.
Poured a black color with an average creamy brown head that mostly lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted, woody bourbon and chocolate aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Good complex roasted bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bourbon bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration.
Good complex brew. JaBier (1130), Capital City, Ohio, USA May 4, 2009 Sampled at Barley’s 7th Annual Mini Real Ale Fest. Event program has ABV listed as 8-12%. Black pour with a thin light brown head. Malty and chocolatey aroma with vanilla and a definite bourbon presence. Vanilla and oak flavor up front followed by booze and chocolate and a bit of coffee in the finish. Pretty good, and on par with their regular RIS.
