Commercial Description:
A robust deep copper ale with rich roasted and woody malt flavors and a distinct spicy hop. We used every conceivable way to hop this beer to give it a complex hop flavor and aroma. Grains- Caramel malts give a rich amber hue; Hops-Nuggets, East Kent Goldings and Fuggles are generously used.

I have never seen such a head from a bottled beer--thick, tan, four-fingers thick. The lace is just as thick, and sticky too. The color is dark copper, close to a brown ale. It’s also very clear. Close to perfection! Complicated aromas of malt and hops. It has an almost cinnamon sweetness. Awesome dry hop smells waft as the head recedes. Now, I’m detecting strong crystal malt (burnt sugars) aromas. Nice. Starts like a brown ale: dark malt sweetness that quickly captulates to soft hop flavors providing a nice balance to the brew. It is a smooth transition. The aftertaste is all hop which lasts a long time. Dry and moderately carbonated, this is a very good beer.

some bite. worth the money. Similar to samuel adams but perhaps more body and less balance. really enjoyed this from a bottle with friends during a BBQ in Somerville, MA.

12oz bottle-pours a foamy tan head and amber color. Aroma is medium malt, medium hops. Taste is medium malt-caramel, medium hops-flat bitterness. Maltier than a standard IPA approximates a standard PA.

draft - Pours amber with a medium sized head. The nose is of pleasant citrus hops. This ale is lightly carbonated and has the bold hops taste one would expect from the style. The malt balance is decent and the finish is dry and lingering. It’s not a great IPA, but it’s not bad either. Try it.

A pleasant dark caramel colour with a long-lasting peaky tan head. Strong citrus start with a bitter finish.

Poured a reddish brown color with a thick tan head that left a clear body with some yeast in the bottom. The nose is caramel, funky citrus hops, and a soft candy aroma. The taste is acidic upfront, it has a tart bitterness that smacks your palate around. Their is a sour presence that is pretty strong, the date on the bottle is 7/06 but maybe this went before its time. The finish is bitter grapefruit and leaves a slightly tannic quality on the palate.

From the bottle.

Pours a surprisingly dark orange-brown with a fizzy off-white head.

The aroma is somewhat mellow, peaches and apricots, some orange/pine hops. The flavor is disappointing, strongly metallic walnut-shell bitterness instead of the delightful hop resins that I’d expected or at least hoped for, mixed in with heavy-handed cola malts and some slightly rancid pecans and.

The biggest problem comes in the mouthfeel, though - the beer is badly overcarbonated, making it prickly and unpleasant to drink.

The IPA pours a dark amber color with a fizzy, white head. Body clarity is clear. Aroma is of moderate flowery hops, which are very nice and airy. Where this IPA really shines is in its’ taste. An unexpected curve is thrown in with this one, as there is a slight coal taste and a creamy texture that remind us of a porter. Initial taste is slightly bitter, but it is very mellow for an IPA. That slight bitter continues tbrough the finish. Light to medium weight on the mouth, with a dry and oily finish. This is not an IPA for a bitter IPA lover, but it is a great change from the usual IPA. A good blend of an IPA and a porter.
