| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 28, 2009 Bomber into Dimpled mug. Pours a deep red with a light head. Aroma of caramel, sweet malt, mild fruitiness. Flavor is slightly thin, a bit metallic. Mostly sweet with a bit of rye, some light and dried fruit. Mouthfeel is too thin for the style. A bit of alcohol in the finish, but otherwise no lingering flavors. Decent albeit pedestrian. ChainGangGuy (2619), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 28, 2009 Appearance: Very clear, bright mahogany-hued body with a smallish, off-white head.
Smell: Distinct scent of melted Brach’s caramel squares amongst the toasted malts and meager wafts of fruit and alcohol.
Taste: Toasted malts smothered in plenty of sweet, toothsome caramel. Minor, zesty rye grain hint. Splash of DeKuyper Buttershots. Light golden raisin and apple stem fruitiness. Spicy, earthy hops with a gentle, though steadfast bitterness. Finishes warming and surprisingly dry, considering how sweet it was upfront.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium carbonation. Decidedly sticky mouthfeel.
Drinkability: CIHB is brash and straight-forward with its delivery of sweetness, its plump mouthfeel, and overall alcohol, especially when compared to its traditional German counterparts, though I still found it to be enjoyable. Oakes (8166), Kowloon, Hong Kong

Fresh, fruity (peach) aroma with light caramel. Sweet front, fairly boozy middle with lots of peach, and some plum/pear esters. The finish is very rich, cut only by alcohol. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 27, 2009 Color is a bright amber with very good carbonation and a nice tight head. Aroma is sweet, a bit roasted with alcohol tones in the back. Taste is rich, sweet and smooth. Starting with a bold medium body it goes down smooth with a rich feel. Finish comes in sweet with a raisin like flavor, a hint of vanilla, some hops and just a faint bitterness. After taste has a big alcohol feel as all the rich flavors slowly fade. After the first few sips, as you sit back you get a warming feeling deep inside. Overall I love it, great brew, its rich and flavorful yet very drinkable and the 10% ABV keeps you happy. ratman197 (3270), Arvada, Colorado, USA
