| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 17, 2009 Draught at Barcade, New York Brown color, quite dark. The aroma is lightly Madeirised. Good caramel flavor, too much oxidisation and alcohol, nutty too; strong ending bitterness, maybe too much. A bit chaotic for me. argo0 (7006), Washington DC, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 9, 2009 Draft... Clear copper lager with a mid-sized, wispy, off-white head. Good, tight, small, creamy retention. Chocolaty and vinous nose - lots of caramel and tawny port. Full-bodied with prickly carbonation. Sweet, caramelly, vinous, port-like flavor. Lengthy, sweet finish that succumbs to mild bitterness and winds up grassy and dry. CaptainCougar (5530), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 28, 2009 Pours a transparent dark copper amber with a thin, wispy-lacing white head. Aroma of sweet toasty caramel malt with some light fruity character and noble hops. Starts with decent fullness and caramely malt with some light fruitiness and a slightly more bitter piny hop finish. Hides its alcohol fairly well. A decent doppelbock. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 29, 2008 Tap at Spuyten Duyvil. Deep dark amber beer with a thin white head. Aroma is quite malty and toasty. Some nice plummy/nutty malts and a bit of brown sugar. Flavour is very clean and quite tasty. Fresh clean but rich toasty malts. Lingering sweetness but the finish is so clean that it never gets cloying. I didn’t know these guys could make a lager this good. Very nice doppelbock.
