Flavor is a lighter versoin of the old ale. Some dust and barnyard with some yeast but overall this is very watery and flat. bhensonb (4268), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 3, 2007 50 cL bottle. Great malty aroma, supported by floral hop. Shiny copper color with a frothy head that laces. Medium bodied. Moderately carbonated. Starts with not too sweet malt, accompanied by floral notes, and a balancing amount of bitter. The sweet is something like ripe stone fruit. The long finish is bitter in the mouth. It probably does not get better than this. BrewDad (2370), Olympia, Washington, USA

Golden color with a thin head. Deep bitter flavor with a slight fruity essence to the finish. This beer had some different flavors added to the beer. I am sure this had some time to travel also. Some crisp flavors almost felt like a light Belgian flavor to this beer.

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jul 1, 2007 Bottle: Pours a fizzy gold color, thin head, decent lacing. Nose of grassy hops, thin malt and lots of yeasty carbonation, metallic too. The flavor is a bit hoppy, some toasty hops, well balanced. Decent body, snappy mouthfeel and a clean, but thin and dry finish. So-so bitter, probably a bit much carbonation for the likes of the blokes over there, it barely works for me. (it better have for the price). kkearn (1002), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Pleasant floral hop aroma. Dry, metallic hop flavor. Very dry; and a bit too astringent for me. lovemyipas (420), sw burbs, Illinois, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jun 27, 2007 pours a clear dark pilsner gold with a one finger bubbly white head. aroma is malt, a touch of hops, and grain-smells like a pilsner. has a light body with some lacing and good carbonation. flavor is the same as aroma. has a watery feel on the palate with a touch of dry hop aftertaste. has a bit of sediment, but overall i am not impressed. has a touch of the apple cider aroma and flavor. has a little bitter bite at the end, but i was expecting more and had better bitter beers. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 9, 2007 First bitter I’ve had that wasn’t Boddingtons. Much different than an ESB and a lot better in my opinion. I never knew why ESBs were called bitter because most aren’t. This is. Aroma of hops. Pour was a deep gold with no head. Taste was very bitter...more bitter than an IPA but no malt backbone. Just bitterness. This is better with each sip. The bitterness burns the back of your throat in a good way. Must try more bitters.... Grandpa (325), Verona, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 5, 2007 It poured a clear gold with a tight, white head. The malt was light followed by the hops which came in late to give a bitter finish. Good, but just a little unbalanced.
