Mellowly flavored ... lightly malted with a grassy hop bitterness. Bit light on the palate. jaymobrown (1360), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Some crisp malt, sort of toast, cookie flavors. Low on the bitter scale. Soft texture. I’d have more of these, but considering they were $9 at the bar I was at it wasn’t worth it. yayforbeer (648), Orange Park, Florida, USA

Light malt and faintly hoppy aroma. Flavor is ok with a musty malt character, light hops, and bitterness at the end. A little thin. Dry, metallic finish. Mine was served a bit too cold, but remained a rather average bitter even when it warmed in the glass. OK but unremarkable. Overpriced at $4.39 for a pint bottle. Sainsburies seem to be expanding thier range to some better beers at the moment and this is one of thier better bottled bitters. Easy going session ale and well balanced. stoutchap (297), Chicago, Illinois, USA

A light malty nose, with a complementary start, grassy middle, and light hopping a the close. Not bad. Drinkable. My first bitter. Will try again. iamjond (7), England does not count | 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Aug 12, 2005 I love this stuff. I keep tring new beers from supermarket but always come back to Coniston Bluebird Bitter. Never grow tired of it’s taste. Excellent with a curry.
Wish I could find it in a local pub instead of the usual crap they serve. johndoughty (2168), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England
