| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 30, 2003 Piney hop aroma. Taste was of fruity malts, strong bitter hoppiness in the finish....not a bad beer, but it didnt really come together for me. Not in the same league as a Fullers. larsniclas (3385), Gothenburg, Sweden

The aroma is slight but with sweet notes. The flavor is lovely bitter with some flowery and spicy notes. It is brewed on an OK malt and has an OK bitternes, that lingers. Pretty solid piney hop cone aroma, with some grapefruit and nice malt as well. Strong bitter flavour, with lots of sour malt. . . Palate is a bit thin, though clean and smooth. Lingering bitter notes and wet, but not very flavourful. matta (1139), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 29, 2003 Oh, hell yeah this is a nice traditional Bitter, I now know why it won “The Beauty of Hops Supreme Champion 1999.” I am envious of the raters that were fortunate to have this on tap at the Map Room; I’m having it bottled in my Bed Room, not nearly as cool.
** The appearance is a shimmering bronze, little to no head, little lacing. The aroma is strongly floral, nutty, hoppy, with suggestions of caramel. The body is medium, slightly buttery and very smooth. What rocks is the flavor, it’s just a terrific balance between the hops and malt, slightly fruity, sweet then quickly bitter shift to dry. Over all I think at this point it’s the best Bitter I have indulged in. If it were not $4 for a 16oz bottle I would drink it nightly.
