Pale blonde, very pale wispy white head. A nice clean session bitter but completely dominated by the ’authentic black country’ scratchings. Fantastic pub...best in Manchester.

Very good session with this one. jibber (3), England does not count | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 27, 2005 This was a beautifully balanced, flavoursome beer. I had the pleasure of sampling this from the brewery in Coniston and again in Ambleside. Hoppy and rich, yet easy to drink. CampbellWilson (533), Scotland

Mild bitterness that finished clean and refreshing. Served perfectly by a gentleman with an Arrogant Bastard tatoo. This was my first trip to Mahar’s and I hope it won’t be my last. Zangy hop taste, with a wonderfully challenging bitter finish. I would drink this over most other beers on tap at my local english pub. Taste goes a little flat and dry, but that probably because im drinking it in america. theboyollie (5), St Mellons, England does not count | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 5, 2004 This helped me survive the week camping in Coniston while carring out my university dissertation on the coppermines up there. Wow, what a beer. Not liked it before when it has travelled a long way in cask - but at the home in consiton - its a difficult one to beat!
