| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 2, 2007 Bottle: Caramel in color, not as dark, a little fiery, large frothy off-white head, spotty lacing.   Soft biscuity malt oriented nose, very slight pale hop presense.   Coming in at 4.8% ABV, doesn’t smell to me like an Old Ale.   Flat on the tongue, pale biscuity malts with little to no hop flavor.   Old Ale, nope... English Pale, more than likely.   Very uninteresting I must say.   Perhaps its the travels, or maybe it is the beer, but I am not all that impressed.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate... barely.   If its an Old Ale it certainly seems to be on the lighter side.   Naw, this one didn’t do it for me.   Too plain and uninteresting.   Chalk this up to another beer I would need to revisit on the other side of the pond.   Sigh...

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jul 18, 2007 Bottle: True amber with a generous head of soft foam. The aroma is yeasty, bready and fruity. The flavor follows suit, richly fruity (apple, pear, cherry, even a little maple) with a sweet yeasty finish. Look up "ale" in the dictionary, this is it. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 14, 2007 Bottle. Golden color with a lasting white head. Smooth and rich, corn, mild toasted malts, and light herbal spices. thegreenrooster (1846), St.louis, Missouri, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 13, 2007 Pour is a nice copper with a large white head. Aroma is very citrusy with some sweet malts. Flavor is a bit musty with some caramel malts and dry hops. More of a bitter than a old ale. The old ale in the Sam Adams longshot was a much better rep of the style but this is still decent not just great. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA
