Very appealing sweet aroma, with some earthy, wild ale aroma. Sweet toffee flavor up front with some spice in the background. I enjoyed the beer up until this point, but the finish is bitter and a bit metallic and doesn’t seem to fit. smells much better than it tastes. brentfeesh (1039), Gadsden, Alabama, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 27, 2007 16 oz bottle. Lightly hazy onion peal color with frothy white head. Minimal aroma that lightly sweet with fruity/spicy hops and biscuit grains. The flavor is fairly similar to the aroma with biscuit grain, pine and spice hops. Fairly drinkable but horribly boring. Watery dry body. As a last note...I can NOT believe this is clasified as an Old Ale???? I thought it was a crappy bitter of some kind. Mungo (2473), Southampton, Hampshire, England

I was quite displeased by the subtle disingenuousness of the label stating ’from the brewer of the champion beer of britain 1998’. Coniston brewed this beer and whilst it may say Coniston on the label its not actually brewed by them and is therefore a teensy bit dishonest. Toasty malts andfruity earthy hops. Hops finish a bit short which leaves the malty caramel sweetness to grow in the mouth and become a bit cloying by the end of the beer. doubelknv3 (568), Illinois, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Feb 13, 2007 Admit I had higher expectations for this. Nice cloudy ruby colour with frothy white head. Fruity floral. Flavour was sweet with hints of licorice. Farily smooth, but too sweet for me. Ungstrup (15420), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Feb 8, 2007 Bottled. A hazy orange beer with a huge bubbly orange head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel and hints of dusty hops. The flavor is sweet with a boring malt profile as well as light fruity notes, before a dry metallic end sets in. frankenkitty (1903), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 5, 2007 Pours a bright, amber color with mild carbonation and a large head that settles rocky. Vinous, wooden aroma with cherries and vinegar is definitely not what I expected. Flavor finds a hint of cinnamon to a base of scotchy vinousness. This was very odd, indeed.

Flavour is sweet and flowery. Has some perfumed notes. Is a bit thin bodied. A bit dry. Has a light bitter fruityness in the end. Very easy to drink. Hildigöltur (5109), København, Denmark
