Draught at TND: Aroma of Earth, yeasty dough, English malts, east kent goldings, and slight tea. Nice aroma for the style. Poured amber/brown in color with a medium-sized, creamy, off-white/tan head that lasted throughout. Fair lacing. Clear. Very sparkling. Flavor is slightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of honey, Earth, malts, bread, east kent goldings, slight tea, and hops. Medium body. Smooth, dry texture. Average carbonation. Earth, malt, hop, and wheat bread finish is dry. Pretty good for the style.

Cask at Black Bull, Coniston, Cumbria. home of the Coniston Brewery. Dark mahogany brown with a small off white head. Earthy malt aroma. Earthy malt taste. Pretty earthy, in fact. Mid bitter finish. Served rather cold, so any other, non earth related nuances were lost on me.

Bottle Conditioned from Peabody’s. Not what I want from an Old Ale. A slight off detergent smell on the nose. Decent flavor with nice malts and good roasty flavors. Finishes okay with a slight balance of hops.
