Tap, tent unizo event (last oct.). Gold, + white head. Trace malt in the nose, gently sweet and yeasty in the mouth, emerging grain in the finish with some yeasty bitterness. Like it !

I’m surprised that this does not rate higher. This beer represents everything I like about Belgian beer and all of those qualities that American brewers cannot seem to replicate when brewing their own versions of classic Belgian styles. My sample was soft and subtle, with orchard fruit flavors, blunt hops and yeasty notes. Some of the flavors that I find in the great abbey beers like Rochefort. My second sample was no disappointment, but this time I definitely noticed some wild watermelon notes I didn’t get the first time. Great stuff this.

Bottled. Hazy golden with some sediment. Orangey, lightlyflowery nose. Lightly yeasty with soft, lively mouthfeel and lots of fresh hops. Really bitter finish. Excellent stuff from an excellent brewer!

2008 Zythos Bier Festival, Belgium. Spicy, grassy aroma. Great balanced taste that is fresh and flavoursome with just a hint of sweetness coming through at the end.

Bottle. Aroma of floral, herbal, and spicy notes, seemingly all from hops, and complex, light grain notes. Flavor brings in some citrus but again focuses in on wheat, hay, grass, as well as some clove, pepper, and nutty/earthy yeasty notes. Finishes with a spice and apricot kick. Really nice stuff.

Bottle. Pours a murky yellow-orange with some sediment and a small white head. Aroma of sweet citrus, wheaty malt, and light yeast notes. Flavor is bready at first with some lemony notes. Sweet malt with some bitter spices in the finish. Very nice and pleasant to drink. Well done. 7/4/8/4/15 (3.8/5)

ZBF2008: From tap. Pours hazy orange with a dense and white head. Light spiced and caramel malt aroma. Flavour is mildly sweetend and with a mellow yeast note mixed with a light spice note. Quite well balanced and smooth. Ends with a lingering smooth mix of the flavours.

Bottle conditioned Chelmsford beer festival, 2006. Maeib bought this then realised that he, Kook and Duff had already had it before. Orange coloured with high carbonation. Candy, sugary sweet and a touch of fizzy cough syrup. A touch of pepper. Easy drinking Belgian.
