Commercial Description:
You want bitter? You got it! Very malty with a strong roast barley flavour. Black as pitch and so thick you could just about eat it with a spoon. An excellent stout.

Aroma of chocolate and brown sugared rum. Appearance is dark brown and unfiltered, with dark mocha head that is well carbonated. Flavor is full of roasted chocolate, cappuchino, cherry and rum. Palate is rum alcohol and full bodied. Truly one of the best beers out there, and at 89%, is still underrated. An imperial stout squeezed into a regular stout with touches of Belgian influence as well. A masterpiece.

Oily jet pour under a dirty beige collar. Strawberry jam on charcoal aroma; juicily sweet and burnt...Barbecue sauce and plummy fruit like Pannepot weighing in- I’d be intrigued to know what yeast is working its magic here. Really dense and surprising with coal-and-cocoa powderiness, espresso, lactic dabs, blackcurrant, ash..the list goes on. Hercule stout diluted with Dragon Smoke and milk. Yep, that good. Bittersweet, burnt and fruity. Some serious finesse and character. Easily the best Aussie brew I’ve ever had.

Bottle. Pitch dark color with great white head. Coffee flavor. Quite bitter and not much sweetness.

375 ml bottle from Bieropholie, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Deep brown-black with a fair tan-grey head. Aroma: Kinda bright with some good dark chocolate and black coffee, a little caramel/toffee, some light molasses, definitely some milk chocolate too. Palate: Medium body and moderate-full yet soft effervescence. Flav.: Some light organic acid brightness, dark chocolate and black coffee, though more austere and stern than the nose, lacks the milk chocolate and “sweeter” malt notes,a little hop character; dry with a some bitterness and a lightly mineral, black coffee finish.

Straight forward and well-made.

355ml bottle, as shown. Pitch-black, impenetrable colour, big bubbly beige head with plenty of lacing. Strong aroma of sweet toffee and roasted malt. Low carbonation; thick, creamy mouthfeel. Initially bitter-sweet aroma of roasted malt and dark chocolate gives way to powerful bitter notes and strong, dry finish. Espresso-like aftertaste. A wee bit like Guinness Draught - but nicer, without the cold coal! This is a medium- to heavy-bodied stout that will register strongly with its drinker (for better or for worse). Impressive Aussie stout, definitely recommended to all people who like the style!

Bottle from RFD in Washington. I like how the description goes ahead and gives it credit as an excellent stout. But this is actually very good. Pours pretty much black with a one-finger, thick, creamy, Guinness nitro looking tan cap. Good lacing. Aroma is a bit muted but has some roast, coffee, milk chocolate. Taste is chocolate milkshake, coffee frappaccino, some maraschino cherries, some light roast. Very easy to drink, smooth, medium-bodied. Yum.
