375ml bottle, bought at GBBF and enjoyed on a hotel room in Earls Court. Plain, black body under a noisy, beige foam. Smell of roasted malts. Dark malty profile balanced by a touch of tartness. Rather abrupt finish. Soapy mouthfeel (06.08.2008).

Bottle from Oddbins. Black, and I mean VERY black, with thin tan head. Wine-alcohol aroma with lots of roast malt and treacle/molasses. Immediate hit of bitter, dark malt on the tongue that gives way to a very pleasant dry/hop finish. Excellent balance of carbonation and smoothness. This is possibly my favourite Aussie beer. Top notch.

12.7 oz bottle served in tumbler- poured heavily used tractor oil black, light carbonation, creamy one finger tan head formed, some lacing on the side of the glass, and tried to steal my dog. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, heavy whipping cream, and general overall good beerness. Hits the mouth with a wdie body, malt is highly pleasing, a little cream in the middle, finish is a mix of coffee, hops, and bitterness. Underrated.

(bottle): Pours a pitch black body, some suspended particles. Small creamy head, tan with good lacing. Roasted coffee aroma, some vanilla, maybe dark chocolate. Bitter coffee aftertaste, sweet milky taste. Very good.

Pours like motor oil from the bottle with a tinge of ruby and a casading tan head that quickly dissapates. Plenty of sediment at the bottom of the glass once it settes. Lots of coffee and toasted malts on the nose that continue into the flavor. Powdered cocoa is also featured in the taste, which starts with a chocolatey mouthfeel that finishes like leather.

Bottled. Black color, a thin beige head, but a thin persistent lace. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee and slightly chocolate notes. Flavor is roasted malt, chocolate and toasted coffee. A quite bitter at finish, but mouthfeel keep a coffee flavor....

375 ml bottle from Pineypower, thanks Dean. Pours a solid black with visible white floating particles that settled nicely on the bottom of my New Belgium glass. Fizzy bubbly beige head that quickly dispates and leaves no lacing. Aroma is sweet with lots of syrupy chocolate, grass, hay, oats and slight coffee notes. Medium bodied with lots of fizzy carbonation on the first few sips that dies down slightly but is still not what I like in my stouts. Flavor of raosted barley, almost burnt, oats, bitter chocolate and burnt coffee. Not quite sure why I wasn’t digging this one, it was drinkable but the palate really distracted me with it’s scratchy carbonation to the point that I just couldn’t get into it.

Bottled. Pretty much opaque black with beige disappearing bubbly head. Fresh, milky, candyish nose. Citric, tart, roasted bitterness, some sour candy in there too. Smooth carb. Fine, slightly porterish.
