Appears almost black with a creamy beige head. Strong roasted malt aroma with underlying chocolate & coffee. Smooth creamy mouthfeel with a bitter hoppy finish. A classic stout. sfontain (507), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 23, 2008 Pours dark black; initially a brown head that fades to nothing; no lacing, though I drank this 12 oz bottle over a couple hours. Nice, full, warm aroma of chocolate, roast, caramel, and vanilla. Tastes the way it smells but slightly tart; the light bitterness in the finish does not quite stand up to the roastiness, so some might say this is unbalanced, but I personally don’t mind. Probably a bit thin in the body for the style; moderately sticky. Drinkable, yet forgettable. Maybe I had this beer on a non-stout day. Beer feels a bit fizzy while festering on pallette....something I don’t usually notice in a stout. I do not find this beer to be as bitter as described by some others. All in all, this is still a decent overall stout. RomanW70 (297), Providence, Rhode Island, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 14, 2008 Pours black with big chunky sediment at the bottom of my dimpled mug. Large tan head that dissipates to a nice tan lacing. I’ve had this brew in Australia but never rated it. So here it goes from the states. Aroma is chocolate, roast, coffee. Nice thick mouthfeel, I still like this stout even though I’m not on the beaches of Australia. Just a little watered down but has good flavor and a nice, slightly bitter aftertaste. Refreshing for a stout. fonefan (11891), VestJylland, Denmark
