| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 27, 2009 12.7 ounce bottle - $1.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia. Best After: 12.06.07.
Appearance: Pours a humble black body with a inch-high head of tan-colored froth.
Smell: Deeply roasted barley malts with notes of half-day-old French Roast coffee and baker’s chocolate. Certainly a notable, distinct wafts of fruit esters in there as well.
Taste: Darkened barley with tastes of coffee, chocolate, and powderized toasted bread crusts. Yes, even powderized toasted bread crusts. Medium-low sweetness. Moderate amount of yeast-derived fruitiness. Minimal hop character with most of the bitterness seemingly provided by the burnt grains. Finishes fairly dry and roasty with an enduring taste of unsweetened chocolate-covered fruits.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Fairly smooth mouthfeel.
Drinkability: Worth a try. By no means a bad lil’ robust stout, and probably one of the better brews I’ve had from the Coopers Brewery over these many long years. davidm (177), Melbourne, Australia
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 26, 2009 Bottle 375 ml. Very good stout, full of flavour. The aroma has coffee, chocolate, and raisins. Flavour is long-lasting, with a nice bitterness that dominates over the sweet start. It feels oily in the palate, and medium-bodied. Black in colour, with yeast residue, the head is white, frothy, and long-lasting. TheBeerOrg (1584), Kentucky, USA

Notes of roast, brown sugar, mild coffee and candy esters. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. I expected something with a bit more body. Fratto (740), Arlington, Texas, USA
