Nose is hops and bitter, but I didn’t get any roast/coffee/chocolates. Taste is bitter and hops, a big thin and hoppy. Not a bad taste but it lacked the dark roasted burntness I was expecting from the pour colour. captianoats (30), Jasper, Indiana, USA

Flavor is heavy on a roasted coffee with a chocolate undertone. A stout isn’t my first choice, but if all were as good as this one, I could change my mind. gwpom (250), Akron, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 8, 2007 12.7 oz bottle. In the days when bottles are going smaller (11.2), it’s encouraging to see one OVER 12 oz. Pitch black with a small tan head, not quite as dark a head as I would expect from a stout. Dry, hoppy, with the usual coffee/chocolate flavor. The extra hoppiness gives it a bit more bitter than I would also expect from a stout. My first Aussie sampling. Seems if you like your dark beers with a bit of a bitter side, you’ll like this one. Trev (871), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA

Flavour is coffee dominated with a bitter finish. Nice extra stout. asheft (1409), Marburg, Germany

Sherry, roasty and toasty, bubblegumy, melanoidiny aroma with a touch of vanilla. Black with a light brown head that quickly drops, leaving a ring. Roasted barley flavor with plenty of vanilla. Apparent, but not overpowering, burnt, black malt bitterness. Some alcohol comes out with the bitterness at the back of the palate as the beer warms. Medium to light body, medium carbonation, tangy, black malt finish. Sigmund (2284), Hafrsfjord, Norway

Pitch black colour, large brown head. Fairly moderate but nice aroma, chocolate, malts and a slight fruitiness. The flavour has a distinct roastiness with plenty of coffee and dark chocolate. Bitter finish, both from the roasted barley and hops. A very powerful and impressive beer. sssamcz (6), Berkhamsted, England does not count | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Nov 23, 2007 Very strong flavoured stout, bitter, thick dark colour with surprisingly light head. Has a fair kick to it, certainly not one of your smoother stouts DeadGuyFrank (347), http://westchesterbeer.com, USA
