Mocha and chocoloate chip cookie dough aroma. Mild roasted chocolate and rasisiny flavor with bitterness throughout and fairly clean finish. Medium body and carbo. A tasty sessionable stout. Wouldn’t mind having it again. PHotchkiss (10), East Lansing, Michigan, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 5, 2007 Bottle, Oades, Lansing. Pours an opaque black, noticeable suspended sediment. A good stiff, brown head which slowly dissipates. Absolutely no light passes through this beer! Aroma is strongly of caramel, vanilla, even fruity. Palate is much thinner than I would have thought - something this dark, I was expecting molasses or Bells Expedition Stout. Fair amount of carbonation tingles on the tongue, yet a very smooth and creamy overall mouthfeel. The taste is incredible and complex. Starts off bitter and malty, and not all unpleasant. But the after taste is of coffee, caramel, mocha and vanilla. Superb beer all around, and quite surprising. bitbucket (2036), Kirkland, Washington, USA

Pours thick pitch black with a small amount of brown head. Aroma is roasty espresso with hints of chocolate. On the palate there are is lots more bitter roasty coffee flavours, an complex mix of nutty and smokey flavours. Lovely beer! RblWthACoz (963), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 29, 2007 Pours an almost opaque black. And when I say almost, I mean you have to hold it up to the light to see just a small sliver of ruby peeking through. Nose is malt, and a lot of it, and it never changes. Flavor is extremely smooth with a rich, but almost perfumed stout flavor. The roasted qualities are minimal. Slight sweet edge to it all. Feel is standard on the carbonation. Fairly thick on the liquid feel. The verdict is a pretty good drinking experience that stays deep in flavor characters. I can’t say that the flavor profile really gets wild and crazy and interesting, but it is a very interesting stout. I say it is worth trying.

Sipping immediately provides a sugary, cookie-type sweetness, quickly followed by the chocolate and coffee maltiness. The body is suitably heavy, and the finish brings some hints of licorice and raisin. However, I really didn’t think the hoppiness/bitterness of the Coopers was all that noticable. The aroma isn’t too strong, and it’s pretty typical (roasty and chocolatey) for a stout. As a side note, there was also a lot of yeasty sediment at the bottom of the glass when I finished. furballman (25), Seoul, South Korea
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/20 | Sep 21, 2007 I like Coopers, but the aftertaste on this one didn’t settle well with me. As far as Stouts go, I prefer Guinness. It’s still an ok beer, though, I expected a bit more. The mouth feel was alright, the alcohol seems a bit high for the bitterness that is given. The color is ok, but the head disappears rapidly. The aftertaste is a bit too much in the bitterness category, which takes away from the experience. It is quite smooth, however on going down.
