Commercial Description:
You want bitter? You got it! Very malty with a strong roast barley flavour. Black as pitch and so thick you could just about eat it with a spoon. An excellent stout.

Pours black with a fine, tan head. Moderate sediment at the bottom. Aroma is very vanilla and some mild roasty qualities. Mouth feel is moderate. Flavor is roasted with some sweeter vanilla qualities.

What a surprise. I was expecting this to be expendable steam beer ... beer I through in my barbecue smoker to generate steam, beer not good enough even to use for cooking. Unlike the other Coopers, this one is not awful. Pours a dark almost black with a modest tan head. Nose of sweet malts, chocolate and coffee. Taste of sweet malts, chocolate, and coffee, with a little bit of an off finish. Not intense, not big in the mouth, not great. But drinkable, which I certainly did not expect. Bonus point for being low alcohol.

Beer poured dark brown, almost black with very minimal head and lacing. Unimpressive looking. Taste was dark roasted malt with coffee and chocolate undertones, with the sweetness of alcohol present. Reminded me of the Anchor Porter, but thinner, more alcohol taste and just less impressive.

this is a wonderful example of a well balanced stout. It made the top 4 in our double blind taste test of all import stouts available in Arizona in 2006-2007

Bottle. Aroma is smoky, with coffee and chocolate notes. Pours deep dark brown, with a tan creamy head. Little lacing. There’s some more smokiness in the flavor, and roasted wood. Also creamy chocolate and various nuts. Watery, finishes easily.

Bottle poured a nearly opaque dark brown nearly black with a small lasting brown head. Aromas of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate and vanilla. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of bitter chocolate, roastiness, coffee and light vanilla with a smooth lingering bittersweet finish.
