| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 5, 2007 What a surprise. I was expecting this to be expendable steam beer ... beer I through in my barbecue smoker to generate steam, beer not good enough even to use for cooking. Unlike the other Coopers, this one is not awful. Pours a dark almost black with a modest tan head. Nose of sweet malts, chocolate and coffee. Taste of sweet malts, chocolate, and coffee, with a little bit of an off finish. Not intense, not big in the mouth, not great. But drinkable, which I certainly did not expect. Bonus point for being low alcohol. Goodgrief (1152), Middletown, Delaware, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 3, 2007 Beer poured dark brown, almost black with very minimal head and lacing. Unimpressive looking. Taste was dark roasted malt with coffee and chocolate undertones, with the sweetness of alcohol present. Reminded me of the Anchor Porter, but thinner, more alcohol taste and just less impressive. kp (8396), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

Pours deep dark brown, with a tan creamy head. Little lacing. There’s some more smokiness in the flavor, and roasted wood. Also creamy chocolate and various nuts. Watery, finishes easily. jonno (578), Brisbane, Australia
