It’s nice to know there are better things than Foster’s being brewed in the land down under. I like my goriegn stouts a little sweeter and more complex, but this is still a very good beer. Just kept getting better as it warmed. I’d like to have this again on a cold winter night. A must try for dark beer lovers.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a dark brown that appeared opaque black in the glass with an average-sized tan head. The beer was bottle conditioned and I should have read the lable that informs you of this and instructs you to mix the sediment up and pour it right in, so I had some small particles of thin density floating around, but that didn’t detract from the beer at all. It’s just a warning to read the lable’s on beer bottles. The aroma was moderately milk chocolate and mild coffee along with wom light to moderate hopsa, a little dark fruit and an almost Hot Chocolate Powder Mix scent. The initial flavor was moderately sweet and lightly bitter, while the finish was moderately sweet and moderately to heavily bitter with an average duration. The body was medium to full, oily and a little dry with fizzy carbonation and a slightly chalky finish. Thylacine (262), Tasmania, Australia

A nice bitter finish. I liked this one a lot! (Bottle) Allen (1400), Switzerland

Very pleasant and rich aroma of tar, arabica coffee, eucalyptus and hints of dark chocolate. A strong bitter taste with some excellent coffee elements. A very enjoyable mouthfeel. Strong and generously bitter. A banana touch and a lingering spiciness to this beer. Lots of malt. Light hints of madeira, an alcohol note. A surprising, excellent whisky-like finish. What a nice beer! WeeHeavySD (3000), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA
