Commercial Description:
You want bitter? You got it! Very malty with a strong roast barley flavour. Black as pitch and so thick you could just about eat it with a spoon. An excellent stout.

Pours a jet black with minimal head. Smell of roasted coffee beans. Has roasted body with notes of molasseses and dark chocolate. Enjoyable beer.

Poured Left the fodder in the bottle as instructed. Little to no head. Malty smell that sweet chocolate overtones. Good mouthfeel that had more carbonation than expected almost like a porter. Perfectly balanced bitterness that was neither overpowering nor to be ignored. Continued to linger, but not unpleasingly so. very fine beer for most occasions.

This one was good for a stout. I found it had very good flavor and was smooth. The taste after a little more than half started to wear on me. I tried not to bash it in my rankings just because i havent grown into stouts yet because it was relatively good.

Poured almost pitch-black from the bottle. A big brown head that fizzes away nicely in the glass. Aroma has coffe, som undefinable sweetness - perhaps from roasted malts - some plums and raisins as well. Very low carbonated - small bubbles that dance on your tongue. A bit thin at first, then adds chocolate, coffee, roasted and other sweetness. Limited bitterness.

Poured out of 12.7 oz bottle. The brew that spilled out into my glass was very black and had a dark brown head with brown streaks and didn’t last more than a minute. The aroma was medium strength and seemed to consist of chocolate, molasses, toffee, burnt malts, a bit of dark fruit and some coffee. Wow, first sip was a medley of rich roasted maltiness. The roasted and burnt malts rolled into sweeter molasses and chocolate. As the taste winds down the burnt black patent type malts rise up again and are joined by a bit of coffee right into the aftertaste. As I sponged up more of this brew I noticed both some dark fruitiness and a touch of smoke.

Bottle. Black beer with fantastically rich nose- prunes, figs, oxo cubes, tar. Rich full bodied & complex with bags of fruity, roasty flavour.

What a pleasant surprise! Dark, really "effing" dark! Not quite impy stout territory, but a deep respectable dark blackish brown with a nice healthy dense tan head, which unfortunately went down fast. The nose is wonderful. Sweet chocolate malt, some fruit (guava, pineapple?) and a bit of roast. Not so balanced, but not cloying, and very promising smelling. The mouthfeel is about what I’d expect from a good imperial stout, all the better in this somewhat weaker style. Thick and viscosity, with a bit of foaming up, but not too much. Really creamy. The flavors are in line with all the other quality aspects of this beer. Creamy chocolately beer with some fruity aspect that I just can’t put my finger on. It might be the Hershey’s chocolate syrup flavor in here that takes this down a peg from being one point better, though this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Big creamy chocolate finish with a bit of a hop bite and roast in the finish. I’m going to finish this off with a 60% cocoa chocolate bar... mmm. I’d buy more of this for everyday consumption. This might become the stout of the house.

It is very dark in here, all I can see is a fluffy brownish head floating above. But I am not afraid of the dark. Is there something burning?? Coffee? Bread? Chocolate? I like it all, give me more!! Hummm... But I am not sick, why are you giving me medicine? Brunette, what are you doing here?!?!? .......... We have so few stouts available in Brasil that I still feel a beginner in this style. After reading the reviews here I was very excited with the possibility of tasting a world class specimen of this style. But I was not so impressed. I liked it, but I was expecting more. The tartness and medicine flavour is a little off to me. And it tastes a bit like a Brazilian stout (La Brunette), that I always thought was flawed. Anyway, give me another.
