Taste is similar, carbonation is a little excessive, good alrounder i suppose. awaisanen (1279), Irvine, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 29, 2006 From a 12.7oz Bottle. Pitch black pour of motor oil with a small, quickly diminishing layer of smokey ashen head. Aroma of toasted malts, maybe even a bit oaty, with a hint of marshmellow cream and a whiff of toasted almonds. Heavy mouthfeel, but not thick or syrupy. Flavors of roasted coffee end with a final smack of finely ground espresso beans. Very dry finish; reminds me of a regular dry stout, which would be my guess if I didn’t know better. Not really oaky, not really caramelly, not really molassesy - just a good solid toasty stout beer overall. ebarnes (213), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA

Pours thick, dark black with a small tan head. Aroma is smoky choco-coffee. Flavor was surprisingly smooth with the coffee standing out. Not bad! BrockLanders (750), Panama City, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 23, 2006 Big dark brown pour....minimal tan head. Big roasty nose....the flavor was even more so. Some interesting smoky notes too....caught me off guard. Wish it was fuller bodied, but I liked it a lot. Finish was lightly bitter....a well rounded brew. Lilith (242), Santiago, Chile

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 22, 2006 Almost opaque black beer with a small but persistent brown head. Nice roasted, almost toasty aroma with a hint of cherry in the background. Starts off rather toasty, slightly fruity, ends with very toasty notes. Not too wellbodied. Svesse (2683), Hässelby, Sweden
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 22, 2006 (Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm) Colour is pitch black with little head. Nose is roasted with chocolate and hints of tar, burnt with notes of wet ashes and oyster sauce. Taste is roasted, rather chocolatey, hints of black, bitter coffee and some sweetness. Somewhat prickly on the tongue, slightly too much carbonation. Medium to full body, though slightly thinner than expected. A really good beer, however. elektronikfagtekniker (892), kbh, Denmark
