Nose is roasted with chocolate and hints of tar, burnt with notes of wet ashes and oyster sauce. Taste is roasted, rather chocolatey, hints of black, bitter coffee and some sweetness. Somewhat prickly on the tongue, slightly too much carbonation. Medium to full body, though slightly thinner than expected. A really good beer, however. elektronikfagtekniker (892), kbh, Denmark

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 6, 2006 Clean dark brown color. Light brown foam, medium head, mostly dimishes. Moderate lacing.
Wheat aroma, a little sweet and toasted. Pleasing bitterness, a bit sweet, well balanced.
Alcohol very disguised.
Very good body, thin texture, rather oily.
Sediments at the bottom of bottle, they testify the last fermentation of this noble brew.
Very recommendable for a relaxing end of the day, at the adequate temperature. ironryan22 (52), Sydney, Australia

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 1, 2006 Pours a deep dark brown color with a beautiful light brown and long lived head that leaves a huge and gorgeous film.
Aroma is great, very stout (pun intended) with notes of coffee, oak wood and Merlot wine. Strong character of roasted malt and hints of toasted grains, prunes and figs.
Flavor is delicious, showing bold coffee touches with a wonderful bitterness and slightly sweet layers sporadically coming out. Nice initial kick and awesome finish, leaving a long espresso aftertaste. What a delight!.
Very thick creamy and smooth body hiding the alcohol pretty well. No carbonation bothering. If I have to complain about something it’s maybe a little one-dimensional and straight-forward. Anyway I love Stouts like this one: plenty of character, flavor and well-rounded full body. Excellent Aussie brew!. bb (2930), Martinez, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 23, 2006 Bottle. Blackish beer with a brown head. Light roasty aroma. Roasty, fruity (mostly grape) flavor. Some coffee tones. No real finish, flavor just disapears on the tongue making it easier to drink. DYCSoccer17 (2201), Davis, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Apr 23, 2006 Bottle purchased from Yankee Spirits in Sturbridge, Mass. Blind stout tasting. Sample #2. Grapey, vinous aroma with some mild roastiness present. Smells a bit more like a wine than a beer. Somewhat faint aroma. Mostly opaque black color with a small tan head and not too much in the way of lacing. Subtle sweet caramel-like start, which turns more roasted and burnt. Has a bit of vinousness to finish. Nice flavor with a pleasant mouthfeel. A decent foreign stout. Wish the aroma was better, though.
