Commercial Description:
You want bitter? You got it! Very malty with a strong roast barley flavour. Black as pitch and so thick you could just about eat it with a spoon. An excellent stout.

Bottle. Opaque dark brown to near black. Fluffy brown head. Nose is roasty and sweet with light coffee, caramel, and dark chocolate notes. The aroma is a bit thin, but that could be because it’s cold. As it warms, it seems to reveal a bit of smokiness as well. Taste is roasty with sweet, creamy malts, light coffee, and a bit of smoke. Light caramel, and a touch of thinned chocolate. Body is medium and has a creamy carbonation. Finishes with more sweet and roasty notes. Light caramel, chocolate, sugared and creamed coffee, and light cocoa.

Bottle, bought in Denmark. Smells and toasts of liquorice and toast (unlikely combination) but it is not too sweet. This is the kind of beer we want from down under!

Bottle, BB 1/21/06. Poured a very deep brown.. almost black with a short-lived caramelly head. Nose was of deep roasted chocolate and barley, black currants, and licorice. No surprises in the flavor.. dark, roasty malts abound (currants, chocolate, and barley), paired with a hint of floral bitterness, oak, and some almost sour dark fruits at the finish. Medium-bodied. Smooth across the front half of the palate, with a chalky, dry bitterness at the finish. Fairly solid brew.

Dark brown with a foamy head. Roasted malty aroma. Smooth with malt flavor and leaves a slight hop aftertaste.

Pours brown with a light brown super fast disappearing head; Medium full nose, strangely mixed of dough on one side and burnt dark chocolate on the other toped of with something sweet and flowery; It has a medium full body, watery and oily at the same time with a little fizz from the carbonation; The finish is a little sticky and bitter at the same time, it has something sweet/burnt, maybe the smell in a barbecue restaurant. Strange stout!

Bottle. Aromas of malt chocolate, roasted malt and a mild sweet licorice. Black body with good dark tan head. Floaters all around looked like carbination bubbles at first til they settled at bottom of glass. Got a dry chalky roasted chocolate flavor at first. Sweet licoice in the middle and a barley floater shot on the finish. Smooth on the palate an enjoyable beer to drink.

Nice black body, the big foamy head is a light beige with a touch of red. Aroma is nice and malty. There is a hint of some fruitiness in the aroma, nut just a touch. Deep, malty taste, definatly some coffee and some smoky flavors. Very good. the flavor is highlighted by nice maltiness. Lovely beer.

Pours black with a tanned/brown head. Smells of prunes and alcohol. Aromas of dark malts, port, and slightly smoked. Hiints of liquirish in the sweet finish. Kind of one-dimensional.
