Sweet aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Flavour of chocolate and malt. Palate a bit thinner than an imperial. Great beer though. tupalev (2618), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 17, 2006 My bottle, shared with hogtown harry and blankboy. Black, small tan slick head. Sweet roast aroma - nice. Good sweet taste, a little tart. thin - almost like a baltic porter. Dark fruit linger. Tough to follow up the Bell’s with this, but on its own a very solid foreign stout. yayforbeer (648), Orange Park, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 16, 2006 Pours black, with a dark tan head. Looks great to start but the head disappears quickly. Aromas are chocolate, coffee, molasses and yeast. The flavor is full, with the chocolate, coffee, molasses, roasted dark malts, and yeast. Some floaties in the brew! Also some yeast sediment in the bottle.. not a bad thing, but not something you often see in a stout. Not too sweet, but neither is it as bitter as the advertisement implies. Well balanced and tasty. Very good. $9.99 for a six pack at Broudy’s, Jacksonville FL. ElBorracho (472), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 13, 2006 Bottle. Pours dark with a beige head. Burnt wood seems to come through strongest followed by chocolate and a nice bitter finish. Perhaps a bit thin. gatorbeer (148), Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 12, 2006 Pours dark. Small head. Unusual amount of sediment for a stout. Chocolatey and malty. Pleasant aroma and taste. Not watery but missing the depth of a top notch stout. frankenkitty (1903), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Feb 11, 2006 There was a slight, tan head above a deep, dark ruby/brown body with sinking tan yeasty bits within. Dark fruit aroma with raisin and plum along with mustiness. Odd and captivating flavor with strong maple syrup to start before coffee bitters that linger. Buttery mouthfeel that turns fizzy with some grit in the finish. A thicker body would do this some good.

Bottle at Battersea Beer Fest. Very very chocolatey. Not a stout like as I would have wanted but all the elements are there that you would hope for. Chunky coffee and sweet malts and rather yeasty but its just all about the chocolate really. Even the head looks like chocolate milk. The bitterness and usual stout like notes do show through a bit more at the finish though. Oh quite heavily carbed too. Lowe1983 (1029), Fairborn, Ohio, USA
