sfontain (496), Columbus, Ohio, USA Mar 23, 2008 Pours dark black; initially a brown head that fades to nothing; no lacing, though I drank this 12 oz bottle over a couple hours. Nice, full, warm aroma of chocolate, roast, caramel, and vanilla. Tastes the way it smells but slightly tart; the light bitterness in the finish does not quite stand up to the roastiness, so some might say this is unbalanced, but I personally don’t mind. Probably a bit thin in the body for the style; moderately sticky. Drinkable, yet forgettable.
Veer (321), Landskrona, Sweden Jul 14, 2008 Aroma: milk, coffee, roasted, chocolate, tobacco, burnt.
Flavour: sweetish, milk chocolate, caffè latte, pretty mild & soapy.
Palate: sappy, milky & fizzy. Slightly fat & bubbly.
Appearance: blackish brown with dark beige head. Pretty nice. SuperDave70 (641), Arizona, USA Jul 8, 2008 Pours a clear black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted grain and malt. Roasty sweet caramel malt and chocolate flavor. A bit thin on the palate. Not bad for a six pack stout. nobadbeer (2), centerville,, Ohio, USA does not count Jul 6, 2008 A stout on steroids- looks, feels, smells and tastes great. A nice blend of bitter and sweet.
This came as a beer of the month club item, and I usually dread when they ship a stout; but I’d actually buy this onr. I’ve never said that about a stout before; even if it came from Ireland; and you know who I mean. tarc (41), New Jersey, USA Jul 5, 2008 Strong roasted aroma, pours black as pitch, the the is strong but very smooth, not bitter like some stouts. Very drinkable, right now, I wish I had two... rmussman (687), California, USA Jul 3, 2008 Sampled out of a bottle. Pours nice and dark. Has a lot of good malts and roasted flavors. Color is quite dark and the bubbels have a very nice dark hue.
