longshanks (1), Newstead, Australia does not count Feb 7, 2006 When I finish work I know there is the one thing that tops off my day. Three longnecks of Coopers Best Extra Stout! It is smooth, aromatic with lovely flavours and it is just so bloody easy to drink! ratkillers (2), USA does not count Mar 28, 2007 Bought two bottles at Times Supermarket in Hawaii. Loved the smell, loved the color, good flavor and the aftertaste was heavenly smooth :) EFC1878 (82), Manchester, Greater Manchester, England Aug 31, 2008 Bottle from Oddbins. Black, and I mean VERY black, with thin tan head. Wine-alcohol aroma with lots of roast malt and treacle/molasses. Immediate hit of bitter, dark malt on the tongue that gives way to a very pleasant dry/hop finish. Excellent balance of carbonation and smoothness. This is possibly my favourite Aussie beer. Top notch. nobadbeer (2), centerville,, Ohio, USA does not count Jul 6, 2008 A stout on steroids- looks, feels, smells and tastes great. A nice blend of bitter and sweet.
This came as a beer of the month club item, and I usually dread when they ship a stout; but I’d actually buy this onr. I’ve never said that about a stout before; even if it came from Ireland; and you know who I mean. room_temp_beer (185), Franklin, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 8, 2003 Updated: May 17, 2004I think this is the first twist-off bottle I've rated. Beer pours (in Chimay glass) a pitch black liquid light can not penetrate with a generous amount of caramel colored head that collapses, but lingers. Aroma is of plum, chocolate, raisin, molasses, sweet. Flavor is very complex, but gives hints of its character including a potent and deeply rich, lightly burned coffee. A closer inspection reveals an ever so slight hoppy character that can easily be bypassed by quaffing mouthfuls. Outstanding brew - I mean WOW. A slight hop is its only flaw. Must have again. Sampled at 72 degrees Fahrenheit.
