Light bodied, dark chocolate flavor, lightly nutty, lightish refreshing finish. For a "dark ale" or brown ale as classified here, this is pretty light, would have thought it was a dark lager on a blind taste. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA

It’s moderately sweet and sugary with a generic caramely, dark maltiness, and maybe a touch of roastiness. There’s just nothing here, I can’t generate any enthusiasm for this beer. The nose is sweet, sugary and malty. Light-medium body, and the beer is somewhat watery for the style, especially in the finish. Medium-dark brown color with lots of fine particles suspended in the beer. The inch of light tan head settles to a ring. Really boring, and with just about every other brown ale I’ve tried being better than this beer, it’s just not worth ever buying again. Otje (668), Leiden, Netherlands
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 10, 2005 dark brown beer, no head. smells malty and sweet fruity. tastes completely different: roasted malt, bit coffee, bit licorice. ends dry, bitterish, port-like and nutty. thin bodied. not so great, but decent. jbrus (4895), Delft, Netherlands
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Oct 23, 2005 Bottled. Pours quite thick, dark brown color, greyish beige head, fair lace. Aroma is light fruity - do I smell some pear? - and skunky grain. Light sweet, light bitter, dark malts, hint of roastiness, hint of butterscotch, bit skunky in the finish. Medium to light body, little dry. As the bottled said ’best after’ I was hoping this was going to be something nice, but it’s quite disappointing. Ungstrup (15416), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Oct 18, 2005 A brown beer with a disappearing light brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel and prunes, but also hints of dust. The flavor is sweet malty with primary notes of nuts, leading to a dry end, over a thin body. bridge (659), Sydney, Australia
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Oct 4, 2005 Looked great - deep brown and with a bit of a vigorous pour I got a huge head that lasted very well. Light aroma with some peaches and a slight smattering of malt. The flavour is really piss weak, nothing of note, but it slides down exceptionally easy. Got some caramel malt right at the finish, but a really weak palate and no bitterness gives it bugger all aftertaste. Not impressive at all. ratman197 (3262), Arvada, Colorado, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 9, 2005 Bottle poured a chunky [yes chunky] dark brown with a quickly dissapating brown head. Aromas of coffee, roasted malt, and a bit of molasses. Palate was light and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt, coffee, and a bit of nuttiness. BennyTicklez (621), USA
