Commercial Description:
The flavour lies somewhere between our Sparkling Ale and Stout but the texture and appearance is less syrupy and cleaner. Coopers Dark Ale is top fermented in the traditional manner. A combination of dark and medium-roasted malt produces this rich, flavoursome brew that's especially satisfying in nippy weather.

Bottle: Dark brown, very minimal head, fades quickly, spotty lacing... almost seems still.   Roasty malt aroma, subtle chocolate, apple skin.   Heavier roasted malts on the tongue, moreso slightly burnt, spritzy, but flavor fades quickly.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Finish is very light, flavors fade quickly, leaving only a slight roasted malt finish.   Too light, and not lively at all.   Not bad, just not very interesting.

375 ml bottle. Dark brown beer with a thin white head. Light yeasty aroma and a bit of pale malt. Fruity yeast shows through along with some toasted malts. Light caramel. Tastes better than it smells.

Nut brown colour. Malty, nutty aroma. Body is thin, with a vague nuttiness and a metallic finish. Drinkable, but weak.

Dark brown, tan head that faded fast, no lace. Not much for aroma, maybe a little roasted malt. Straightforward bitter-toffee roasted malt palate, but no real character (maybe its because I had mine from the bottle, but I didn’t find a hint of chocolate). The carbonation makes it feel a little thin bodied. Not bad, just not much character.

Very weak effort. What does this beer want to be? To much carbonation, and not ’nuff flavor!

Not a bad dark, but I prefer Guiness. This pours and fizzes like a soda instead of a nice thick dark..

This is a very drinkable brew. Mahogany with reddish highlights and a brief-lived bubbly tan head, it’s got a chocolatey, light roasted malt aroma. Nicely carbonated, the aroma is repeated in the flavor, and it slides down real easily. A simple, satisfying brown ale.
