Commercial Description:
The flavour lies somewhere between our Sparkling Ale and Stout but the texture and appearance is less syrupy and cleaner. Coopers Dark Ale is top fermented in the traditional manner. A combination of dark and medium-roasted malt produces this rich, flavoursome brew that's especially satisfying in nippy weather.

Ultimately, this is decent and drinkable, but not at all exciting or satisfying. It is dark red-brown, almost black, with a thin tan head that dissipates fairly quickly to almost nothing, and it is fairly bubbly. The aroma is very mild yeats, chocolate and pine. The taste is also mild, being chocolate, toasted malt, coffe, not bitter or butn, but not sweet. It is rather dry and watery, fairly thin and very light. It grew on me after a few sips, with the wateriness decreasing, and it’s drinkable, but rather humdrum and bland. Also, the finish tends to be a bit like old coffee grounds and burnt toast in water.

Brown, with particles. No head. Dark malty aroma. Thin body. Earthy malts. Hints of coffee and caramel. Easy to drink initially but gets bad as you go on.

Bottle. Metallic roasted malt aroma. Dark brown with small head. Initially watery start but finishes with a slightly smokey chocolate malt flavor - pretty bland.

Bottled(375ml). -Brown cola coloured, creamy brown head. Weak roasted malt and coffee taste with notes of burnt sugar, nuts and hint of chocolate in the finish. Quite weak but not watery.

I thought the bottle and label looked neat and thought this might be a decent import. I was horribly wrong. It had a peanut, yet tinny, aroma that was nearly nonexistent. Brown color, floating sediments, thin tan head. Weak charcoal taste. Finish is generically bitter, like some sort of resin. Not gross, but uninspired and poorly made/kept.

Amber color, offwhite head. Roasted malt aroma. Malty flavor, a bit thin, some chocolate and cocoa, a bit roasted.

Bottle from Aussie pal. Pours a hazy brown colour with no real head, just a thin tan film. Honestly, no real aroma and the flavour was watery malt. Average at best.
