Commercial Description:
The flavour lies somewhere between our Sparkling Ale and Stout but the texture and appearance is less syrupy and cleaner. Coopers Dark Ale is top fermented in the traditional manner. A combination of dark and medium-roasted malt produces this rich, flavoursome brew that's especially satisfying in nippy weather.

Pour is a very dark brown with a average tan head. Aroma has some nuts and caramel. Flavor is about the same. Some nuttyness with caramel and throw in some chocolate at the end. Adequate for a brown ale.

Bottle at home. A hazy dark orange-brown beer with a medium off white head. Aromas of prominent caramel malts with subtle floral hops. Tongue is medium sweet toasted malts with a nice gentle hop finish and a faint smokey aftertaste. Quite light bodied with a lowish carbonation. A decent easy drinking ale.

Bottle. Poured a dark black color with a one finger off white head. Aroma was very faint. Some malts, coffee, and chocolate in the aroma. Flavor was coffee, smoke, and burnt notes. Finish was dry and roasted. Medium to thin body. Not a whole lot there. Average beer at best.

Bottle. Pour is dark brown. Small tan head that disappears pretty quickly. Aromas of coffee, dark fruits and roasted malts. Some sweetness and perhaps some yeast aromas. Flavours are dominated by roasted malts, though there is a little coffee ans some yeast. Initially flavours are quite sweet with some hop bitterness on the finish. Mouthfeel is a little thin. Overall not a bad beer with reasonable balance.

Bottle 375ml. Good taste, but mouthfeel is watery. Aroma has dark fruit, raisins, coffee, and also yeast. Flavour is sweet, with a bitter finish, not long-lasting. It feels watery in the mouth, the finish is dry, and has high carbonation. Dark brown in colour, the white head doesn’t last, and it’s cloudy from the yeast residue.

Decent as most coopers are but a bit boring like most coopers are. Has the familar coopers taste, in a dark ale. Nothing more nothing less.

Dark copper pour, small head that fades quickly. Aroma is very weak. There’s some toasty, nutty, chocolate notes and some very faint hops. Flavours are much better, lots of roasted malt with some nutty notes. Light roasty bitterness. Slightly watery, high carbonation.
