Commercial Description:
Coopers DB has residual sugars eliminated by a double pitching of the yeast, resulting in a beer with a very dry, crisp and clean palate. It's actually a little lower in calories than other beers.

Never had a diet beer before. Light sweet aroma of malt that almost seems to be missing something. Pours light golden, not much head to speak of. Has the wierd sodary body I get with all of these less well known Coopers beer. Watery, and easy. A bit more interesting than their draught, and maybe a bit better for ya, but nothing special.

I think a reference to clean often means that the beer is going to lack flavour. The fact that yeast is repitched means that it is going to do a bit of a vacuum job on residual sugars and other factors that give a beer its enjoyable mouthfeel. Also the fact that the beer comes in at 4.5% AFTER longer fermentation means that the wort must have been pretty weak in the first place. It is strange how DB always seems like diet beer, or diabetic or dribble. Suppose they have to brew something for the Dopey Bastards, Dumb Broads or Dumbo Blimps of the world.

Well I dont like diet beers from the start. Quite dry with not much taste, quite clean, very inoffensive, but give me a coopers pale any day. cheers

Another of my attempts to find a ’diet’ beer. At least it has some taste. Sweetish, non-bitter lager that is a bit weak. Having said that it’s not horrible.

Slight sweetness at the start, with a dry, sort-of-hoppy finish, very light, but manages to have a bit of flavour. Quite clean in taste as the description says.

Dryer than Sturt’s Stony desert, this drinkable little number is very clean in palate if only because it is rather flavourless. Originally touted as suitable for diabetics, DB is Coopers most boring alcoholic beverage. Try with a Goa curry(extra Hot), bananas and coconut. You might go bananas
