Not bad, some light floral notes in the aroma and taste, an interesting cloudy golden colour but a bit of a nasty sour aftertaste. ALLOVATE (1126), Perth, Australia

Years ago, whilst in Adelaide this was considered the outcasts and isolated portions drink and I suppose it still is now. Many die-hards say it just isn’t the same since the breweries move to Regency park, just across from my old engineering college. I’d have to agree, but I don’t think it was caused by the move. Maybe it’s just Cooper’s marketing and share price index, just another brewing company really. Tasted from the bottle into a Cooper’s stein glass. Opaque sandy gold with a heavy, clumpy yeast sediment that sunk with ease. Head failed to rise, I can’t say I have ever had a Cooper’s Pale that has rose more than a white ring. Heady, bready yeast nose, light celery hint with a backing reminiscent of chicken OXO cubes. Quite light on in the mouth, very yeasty and pasty across the tongue. Taste of white bread upfront, then yeast all the way to the lightly herbal swallow. Has a lingering oxidised note that seemed common to most of the Pale’s I have downed. Light bodied, lightly biting in carbonation and crisp in the swallow, it has been 3 years since my last sample and I am hoping this was just a bad one. Come on Cooper’s, or I’ll have to rethink my club membership. Bring back the PALE. (375mL, Best After 03/05/05) bikesandbeers (468), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Aug 18, 2005 The residue in the bottle is fun to stare at. Pours a cloudy residue without much head. Light and a bit tart. Nothing too complex, but better than most Australian swill. should be standard in every fridge down under. Pernille (518), Copenhagen, Denmark

Doesn’t change the fact, that it’s quite a delicious brew. Sparkly, fresh with an herbal end note. JoeMcPhee (5000), Jackson Heights, New York, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 31, 2005 Updated: Aug 1, 2005Apparently more popular than its sibling Sparkling Ale, likely because it’s weaker and far less complex for the modern bogan attempting to look swank in his local pub. Coopers Ales rarely look good but generally stack up upon drinking. A cute beer, watery for an ale, too watery for mine. Refreshing with seafood but powerless against a vindaloo. Not bad overall, but give it a miss and try the Sparkling. SSSteve (2071), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
