Simple aroma of pale malt, bread, straw and a hint of cardboard. Low earthy hop aroma under the bread and straw. Hops come to life more on the tongue, forced through by the carbonation. Mineral backing helps to emphasize the hops too. A bit thin. Simple pale malt under the hops and minerals with a lightly toasted edge. Simple but decently done quencher. viciousg42 (46), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Mar 28, 2009 feels like a malt liquor made it with a pale ale. interesting finish for a pale. normally i would expect something dryer, less effervescent, but this is a surprisingly malt liquor quality finish to a slightly hoppy pale.. very strange for an aussie beer. jollyroger (2), Australia does not count | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 26, 2009 perhaps i’m bias, being form South Australia, but as far as the big name beers go over here, this is definitely one of the better ones. Lovely cloudy, pale straw colour, with some estery aroma notes. Slightly thin on the palate, moderate bitterness, with malty/sweet characters.
After drinking at least 2000 of these babies, they are best out of a 375ml bottle- i find it too thin off tap, and slightly more bitter out of a 750ml bottle. joeneugs (342), Livermore, California, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Mar 25, 2009 Pours hazy yellow with lots of floatables. Small fizzy white head. Dusty hop aroma, not much else. Tastes watery, sour to the point of astringency and quite bitter. Maybe I got a skunky bottle, but this was not very good. fidelis83 (729), Clinton, Iowa, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 20, 2009 Pours pale, hazy gold with a thin white head. Aroma is grainy malt, straw, citrus, sour peach and planty hops. Flavor is grainy malt, a little caramel, yeasty bread, and mineral notes. FInish is slightly bitter citrus and mineral. Palate is thin and somewhat drying. Overall this was not a particularly good beer but wasn’t aweful and had a nice crisp profile. Miksu (2232), Jyväskylä, Finland
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 16, 2009 0.375 l bottle at Aussie Bar, Helsinki. Hazy golden color wiht quickly vanishing head. Bready and fruity aroma with apricot and coconut. Bready, yeasty and fruity flavor with apricot, grapefruit and pineapple. Pretty even maltiness and bitterness. There are some nice fruity notes but this tastes a bit flat, the same from aroma to finish. nqualls (1428), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 14, 2009 12.7 oz bottle. Poured a cloudy yellow color with a thin white head. The aroma was sweet malt and earthy hops. The flavor was much the same. This was a very underwhelming beer. iamqueensblvd (223), , Iowa, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Mar 12, 2009 Long lasting white frothy head that lasts quite nicely atop the piss colored beer. Despite its rough appearance it is actually not a bad pale ale. Not as flavorful as a seahorse or Juniper.
