beercamel (83), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 6, 2009 Pours hazy gold and cloudy. Has sediment floating around and very carbonated like any coopers brew with bubbles rising to the top. The nose is very sweet and malty with undertones of apple. The taste is apple and tingles the tongue and does settle well on the palate. Has a candy like aftertaste that is peare or apple sour lasting. JohnnyJ (1282), Carlsbad, California, USA Nov 5, 2009 Slightly cloudy gold pour, white head. Mostly malt, some grain and light apple, light citrusy hops. Boring and easy drinking. Papillon (172), Sudbury, Ontario, Canada Oct 30, 2009 375 mL Bottle. Gold body with a fluffy white head that settles to a foamy ring with some lacing. Aroma sweet malt with notes of apple, floral, yeast, and faint innuendos of banana, citrus peel, and honey. Sweet malt flavor with a cherry candy aftertaste, a hop bitter lingers in the finish to make it complete. Very smooth in the mouth. This is an unpasteurized bottle-conditioned beer with sediment on the bottom allowing it to show its true character; brownie points for this part. This Real Aussie Ale is a fine brew, mates! BrewingFan (44), Texas, USA Oct 11, 2009 Poured from the bottle cloudy amber with the yeast sediment. Hints of clove and citrus on the nose. Complexity of a smooth, stick to the tougue sweetness that finishes off with good bitterness and hop notes. BeerChaser0078 (283), Melbourne, Australia Oct 5, 2009 Bottle. Pours golden orange with a short lived white head. Aroma is fairly grainy but has notes of citrus, honey and some mild floral hops. Flavour is much the same with some extra woody and nutty elements. Palate is dry with a fair amount of bitterness at the end. I have found over the years that this beer can vary a bit from batch to batch so will re-rate if I get a noticeably different one in the future. dm9831 (1167), Monee, Illinois, USA Sep 28, 2009 hazy gold, medium fluffy head, no lace. nose of mild malt, maybe some corn. pretty airy. the flavor begins with a malt sweetness that then changes to a candy corn sweetness, but finishes on an odd sour note. this pattern went on with every sip. it was maddening. if i closed one eye, i could make it through the corn syrup sweetness, but there was not much that i could do about the after taste. the description on the beer list said the beer had "champagne-like carbonation and tangy citrus flavors". i detected neither. it was pretty hard to finish a whole bottle purchased at outback steakhouse in orland park, and i was barely up to the task. mwelsh13 (483), Maryland, USA Sep 24, 2009 Bottle pours yellow with a light bubbly head. Aroma of yeast, bread and slight sourness. Initail taste was dry on the tongue with some fruitiness and some bitter/sourness in the aftertaste. Rest of the bottle continues the same. Nothing to write home about. davidm (126), Melbourne, Australia Sep 24, 2009 Bottle 375ml. Interestingly different. Aroma is light, citrusy, and yeasty. Flavour has a sweet start, with nice bitterness taking over. Highly carbonated, medium body, there is some acidity at the end. Dark yellow in colour, cloudy, with a thin head that doesn’t last.
