Commercial Description:
Coopers Sparkling Ale is brewed naturally by the centuries-old top fermentation method just as it was in the beginning by Thomas Cooper. This beer displays a solid head and a distinctive, full-bodied flavour enhanced by a soft, fruity character and the sediment which gives it a cloudy appearance.

Wow this was hard to suck down. The only way to do it was in big gulps. Aroma was OK. Light malt with nothing else. Pour was a flat thick gold with no head. The only reason AP got a 3 was the great sediment in the glass (I’m a sucker for sediment). Taste was awful. Tasted like one of the Bad Elf series. Strong sweet sugary malt, thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Strong somewhat fishy aftertaste. Blah.

37.5cl bottle at home: Lightly hazy amber with thin bubbly head. Pale malt aroma with toasted brown bread. Honey or golden syrup on top of the toast. Earthy hop notes. Some dark caramel can also be found under the toast and more sugary sweetness. Flavor of light malt with a noticeable effervescent hop bite. Good toasted malt and honey in the middle. Ends with light pils type malt feel with some light malt that gets magnified by the high CO2

bottle with the aussies at work. smells of musky sweet fruits. hazy brown body, with a very big head that legged it pretty quickly. Very sweet in flavour, lots of vanilla and sap, quite peachy. and according to a quite plastered matt, just the right thing if you fancy a sweet australien. you can’t beat drunken aussies for the sheer entertainment value! just a shame what they have to drink to get there...

Bottle from Malthouse. Poured golden, white disappearing head. Very bubbly as the name would suggest. Has some nice fruity aromas but doesn’t follow into the taste. Tastes bitter and yeasty, with some nice lingering bitterness. RERATED, 3/3/09 at the inaugural SOBA centre city beer tasting. My thoughts this time round were: Pours golden, slight cloud. Some malt and a bit of apple in aroma. Flavour is subdued. Spritzy mouthfeel, flavours of weak esters, lightly hopped. Uninspiring.
