Commercial Description:
Coopers Sparkling Ale is brewed naturally by the centuries-old top fermentation method just as it was in the beginning by Thomas Cooper. This beer displays a solid head and a distinctive, full-bodied flavour enhanced by a soft, fruity character and the sediment which gives it a cloudy appearance.

PERHAPS THE OVERCOLD BOTTLE PRODUCED AT A REPUTABLE BREW PUB IN MANHATTAN WAS NOT AS NEW AS IT COULD BE, BUT I FOUND (ON 4JULY06) THIS BREW TO BE AVERAGE AT BEST. IT WAS A BIT CLOUDY AND REFRESHINGLY COLD PERHAPS DEADENING THE INITIAL PERCEPTION. THERE WAS NONE OF THE APPRECIABLE CARBONATION I FIND INTRUIGING WITH SOME AUSTRALIAN BREWS. THE TASTE WAS FOR THE MOST PART ABSENT. TO ME IT WAS AS IF A BUDWEISER... OK BODY BUT SMOOTH AND CAREFUL TO BE UNCHARACTERISTIC IN ANY WAY. OR EVEN MORE SO LIKE A BALLANTINE BEER FROM YEARS AGO. I SAY THIS BECAUSE I DID LIKE BALLENTINE BUT I DON’T HAVE TO PAY $5 FOR A BOTTLE AND THEN HAVE IT SHIPPED FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF OUR BEAUTIFUL GLOBE. A BIT DISSAPPOINTING. IT WAS GRAINY AND THE FLAVORS COULD HAVE BEEN ATTRIBUTABLE TO MANY DIFFERENT FRUITS,VEGETABLES AND OTHER DERIVATIVES.

Bottle. Like my other rating for this brewery says "If you’re going through the hassle of actually making an unfiltered, bottle conditioned beer, why would you make it this boring?" The few points I award this beer are for the very fact that they actually have the guts to make it just that.. unfiltered and bottle conditioned.

12oz bottle. Aroma: Light grainy malt, some light grape and apple. Appearance: Light golden in color and slightly hazed. White head was full and frothy with good retention. Fair lacing. Flavor: Light maltiness, some light fruitiness, a bit of spice, and a bit of earthy hops. Light bitterness. Palate: Medium-light bodied. Medium-high carbonation. Overall: Not much to this, overall. Pleasant and drinkable, but that’s about it.

This was surprisingly good. It has a little wheat flavor to me and is a very easy drinking summer brew. I waas pleasantly surprised by the flavor and body. This beer should be served like a traditional wheat or white. On orange or a lemon in the beer would go just fine. I did have a little too much sediment for me so be careful when you pour if you don’t like that appearance or tatse.

Bottled 37.5cl. It pours a hazy orange beer with a rather small head. Aroma of malt, fruits (apricots and peaches). Some hints of licorice in the taste. Nicely malty, peppery. Some alcohol, slightly medicinal. Again some fruits, apricots and peaches. This ale has some very pleasant oily, buttery elements. A nutty touch. A nice sweetness is very well balanced by the moderate bitterness. Some hints of licorice in the finish which is mostly grassy and buttery. (The peaches and apricots still remain present). A very consistant ale. Rerate: Malt accentuated. Low bitterness. Hints of sand, apricot and crackers. Faintly acidic. There is quite a bite to this beer. Yeasty.

Bottle. Slightly cloudy amber colour. Short lasting head. Nice fruity aroma (bit sour and sweet) with some malt to it. Good dry and fruity flavour with a good touch of malt. A quite refreshing ale.

Sampled from bottle. Interesting, not as sparkling as I would have thought - based on the name alone. Color was a pale copper, with a small white head. Aroma was a little weak, and the flavor was that of slightly higher quality plain beer and there wasn’t much else to it.
