Commercial Description:
Coopers Sparkling Ale is brewed naturally by the centuries-old top fermentation method just as it was in the beginning by Thomas Cooper. This beer displays a solid head and a distinctive, full-bodied flavour enhanced by a soft, fruity character and the sediment which gives it a cloudy appearance.

This is a really nice looking beer. I love the sediment, in fact one day I might save the bottom fifth of 5 bottles and see what kind of beer that makes. There is something in this beer that gets on my nerves after about 4-5 of them.

The appearance is a golden color with a light white head. The aroma is lemon dishwashing detergent. The flavor is mostly lemons with a little bit of butter and grass showing up. The mouthfeel is rather carbonated with a slightly sour finish. Overall run of the mill session stuff.

Bottle -- Ahh, a very dear friend of mine! This beer was my stepping stone from watery lagers to ales and other more serious beers, and while I don’t think it’s quite as good as I once did, I still very much enjoy a bottle. Pours a cloudy gold with a small head that doesn’t hang around for long. (BTW, for all those people who complain about the chunks, this is a bottle fermented beer so it has sediment -- you should turn the bottle upside-down and twist it, or even tap it, a few times for the yeast to mix through the beer. This is also meant to improve its flavour.) Aroma is lightly fruity and sweetish. Flavour is hoppy with some bitterness and nicely balanced. A great beer with food or by itself.

Bottle: Dark orangey coloured with a small off-white foamy layer, cloudy, heavy sediment visible; robust fruity nose, a little bit similar to a Hefeweizen (banas, apples), distinctive traces of hops; solid bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied; spicy hoppy finish with a citrusy touch. A well crafted, refreshing beer; kind of a combination of a Hefeweizen and a well-hopped Ale....

Copper and cloudy in the glass with oaky tinted aromas. Most of the nose is grain, apple and carbonation gas. wheat and barley dominate the short palate, with a appley yeast. Fair.

Bottle. It looks like coppery city water complete with mystery chunks. Head disappears quickly. Canker orianges and apple juice are the primary scents. Tastes like a light beer with a crappy apple thrown in for good measure. Carbonation was used to cover up everything else that was lacking leaving a gooey flavor in the back of my throat. Overall, not very good.

bottle. pours cloudy piss-yellow with short-lived white head. cloudy as hell, i guess that’s what "sparkling" means. not attractive looking. aroma, well, if you told me this was carbonated apple juice i wouldn’t be surprised. thin on the palate, with lots of carbonation- think perrier. taste isn’t bad, apples and yeast. balanced but not much else. drinkable but not worth drinking.

Poured out of 12.7 oz bottle. Poured gold color with hazy sediment and very thin bright white head. The aroma is pale malt graininess, sweet malts and a whisper of hops. Some interesting flavors going on here. Seems to be mild maltiness, some graininess, honey, wheat, a touch of banana and then light hops near the finish. Another lawnmower beer that’s fairly refreshing.
