[vintage 2007]
Clear brownish red with a small creamy off-white head. Nice duration for such a small head. Aroma is sweet, lots of toffee, caramel, light liqourice with some viniousness. Rather highly carbonated, but still rather oily. Flavour is high on sweetish caramel, light dark fruits with a fine hoppy bitterness. Long, lingering and slightly alcoholic aftertaste. jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | May 5, 2008 Bottle: Oh, no... lots of sinkers and a few floaters in this rusty brown pour. Tons of sediment is swirling like crazy. Moderate sandy head is fizzy and bubbly. Nose is malty and toffee filled, a little grassey and some lagerish qualities. Sort of fruity and spicey, this little bit of sour malt comes through. Still, fruits, yeast, and spice make this feel a lot like a Belgian? Who knows how old this bottle is (bought last week) with no clue on it’s age... date on the label my ass. MesandSim (5943), London, Greater London, England
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 30, 2008 A Mes rate: bottle at Chris_O’s Ha Ha Ha Ha Gimme the Cheese Tasting. Fairly cloudy dark brown with a well behaved white head. Straight down the line but the hops are pretty decent, the malt is really nice and gives up some tasty caramel. Dryish finish. Reasonable balance. Not bad. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 22, 2008 Deep amber beige head. Toasty bread and complex fruits on the nose. Great on the palate, full malty flavour not unlike some trappistes (a toned down version), woody almost bourbon type flavours in there? raisin flavours and a dry palate cleansing finish with alcohol. marcus (1896), Sacramento, California, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 21, 2008 This copper ale poured with a thin beige head that dissipated quickly. There is a tasty malt flavor with a chalky more bitter finish. georgekappus (296), Brookfield, Connecticut, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 17, 2008 Bottle. Pours a cloudy murky brown with very little head. Aroma was very sweet like flavored sugar. Taste was both sweet and sour. It was too thin for the appearance. Syd (903), Waconia, Minnesota, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 11, 2008 Bottle (best if used by 10/09/06? - no wonder it was $4.99 a 6 pack) pours a very cloudy almost prune juice color with little head and no lace. The aroma is of dark fruits (plums) and some caramel. The flavor is of mild dark fruits, some caramel notes, and overall very mild. Everything is quite subtle. The palate is pretty rich and very cleansing. Overall, I got what I paid for with some "past its prime" beer. Need to taste it fresh.
