Bottle courtesy of Slob. Pours mahogany with a thin white head. Smells of cherries, tea, caramel, toffee and molasses. Tastes of malt with some sweet fruity undertones. Mouthfeel is dry with a nice crisp finish. This reminded me of an Old Ale.

Bottle courtesy of OhioDad...Date is unreadable on bottle. Poured a murky brown color. No head. Smelled like apple cider...Taste was apple, pears, raisin, malts and caramel...Really, not too sweet...blended well. Got better as it warmed...Very drinkable.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a thin and rapidly dissipating white head. Aroma of nuts and prunes with a very light flowery hop presence. Medium body and mild carbonation. Sweet taste of brown sugar, fruit, prunes. Somewhat dry finish with a touch of smoke. The hops just barely show up.

375 ml (best before 18 06 08) poured in Mason quart. Partly cloudy, copper brown with medium head that lasts fairly well. Aroma is sweet cereal grains with bananas. Flavor starts with a little malt sweetness but finishes to the dry side. Mostly lightly toasted grains and nuts, with some hop bittering in the finish. Palate is light-medium.

I can’t quite make out the date, but the bottle is a few years old. Pour is a hazy orange with a nice off-white head. Aroma of caramel, vanilla, orange, and some dark fruit. Flavors of fruit, caramel, malt, and a little spice. Smooth and light. Quite easy to drink.

12.7 oz bottle. Best before date 10.09.06 Pours cloudy orange-brown, with a good deal of yeast carry over. Sweet malt aroma, and very little head but it does lace the glass nicely. Sweet malt, yeasty, and not as hoppy as I expected for an English strong ale. Tastes more like a regular brown ale to me. Faint astringency and bitterness on the finish. Certainly not bad, and very drinkable, even enjoyable. But I was not totally impressed. Reminds me of some of my early homebrews. Also reminescent of Unibroue Raftman. Gets better further into the glass.

Bought in 2004. Hazy orange with a very very nice retaining, creamy head. Aroma is sweet caramel and maybe a bit of orange. Flavor is amber ale like - a little sweet, malty, not much complexity. Very easy drinking for 7.5%. Body is a little thin. Nice easy drinking, pleasant beer - not much more than that.
