12oz. bottle. Slightly murky dark orange with a thin film of off-white head. Raisins, dark toffee, rich alefruit aromatics. Caramel malt, currants, light herbal hoppiness. Mildly tart finish with residual caramel malt and hints of alefruit. Mouthfeel is medium, almost heavy, slightly chewy.

Batch: Oct. 4, 2002. This reddish-orange beer poured with a small fizzy light brown head which didn’t stay too long and left little lacing. The beer is cloudy and heavily particulate. Malt aromas include nuts, toffee, caramel, and bourbon, with little hop aromas due to the age. Definitely a bit of that doughy yeast presence along with suggestions of butterscotch. Lots of sediment. The beer is creamy and thick on the palate and strongly alcoholic, though not unpleasantly so.

Beer pours a slightly hazy medium-dark copper-brown color with a small, frothy, white, diminishing head. The aroma is a bit of a flat-line: malty with moderate notes of toasted grain and caramel; trace note of herbal hop; yeasty with a light note of damp basement; moderate notes of alcohol, sherry, light note of wood. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter, moderately acidic with a long, warm, moderately bitter, moderately acidic finish. The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively.

This bottled brew marked batch number 4-OCT/2002 from Indianapolis was sampled on 3/20/2006. It poured a medium sized head of foamy mostly diminishing fine to medium sized white colored bubbles under a frothy top. The body was very hazy, filled with large chunks of yeast and many smaller particles, average carbonation and a thick dark orange brown color. There was a fair lacing too. The aroma was vinous mildly port like and malty. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and strengthened at the finish. The flavor was smooth at the start and finished with a slight vinousness that was only so-so.

The aroma has yeast, toffee, caramel, alcohol, and butterscotch. The appearance is a hazy red brown with a medium fizzy head. The flavor is malty and fruity with some spice. The aftertaste has fruit. There is too much alcohol and bitterness here but overall this is a fantastic beer save that.

Pours a medium / dark transparent brown with a beige head. Aroma is of semi-sweet maltiness with butterscotch tones. There is also a bit of mustiness and toffee - quite appatizing. Taste fills out the mouth with tons of malts - much of what was in the aroma: mustiness, butterscotch, sweetness (not cloying). The finish has a bit of astringency with a bit of a earthy tones. An enjoyable beer.
