Bottle. Hazy reddish-amber with a very thin off-white/no head. Fruity aroma (summer fruits) along with a touch of swet malt and caramel. Caramel and a bit of raisin in the flavor with some more fruit. Medium body.

Tasted 10/14, right in the middle of a smoke beer tasting. What a deserved break. Vintage 2002 (4 Oct)--I don’t really remember why I wrote the Oct thing, but for some reason I felt, at the time that it was important. 375 ml bottle. Raisins, plums, caramel, sugar in the nose. Gold-orange hue. Off-white head. Good spotty head retantion. Sweet malt flavor. Alcoholic sweet, sticky and delicious! Still good carbonation.

This makes me think of an alt and a barleywine together. Certainly a nice beer, found at the great place known as the Freaking Frog in Las Vegas. I think this was 2004, but maybe 2003.

Rerating with a newer vintage. Best by 10, Sept, 2006. Poured with a cloudy dark orange body. The head is barely a trace on top. The aroma is peanut brittle and dry hay. the taste is toffee with some light notes of oranges and flowers. A decent strong ale. Old rating follows. The date on the bottle is Oct 4, 2002. A little past the date the bottle suggests. Very dark orange body with some floaters. The head is thick and white. The aroma has pears and some vanilla. There is also some light cinnamon. The taste is light pears with some slight cinnamon spice. There is some caramel in the finish. This is a decent beer.

October 2002. Cloudy copper/orange. Small off white head. Aroma and flavor like a mild barley wine-caramel, toffee, malt, subtle hops. Medium body, easy drinking.

Botlle 4-Oct/2002. Pours hazy and muddy copper, straw and orange with a small frothy off-white head that qucikly becomes an edgy and rocky film. Caramel malt (straw, hay) toffee and grape, plum hop with cellared oak notes and yeast (dough). Flavor is warm caramel malt buttery and fizzy with a lightly hopped finish and oak notes. Medium bodied fizzy and warming palate.

If you ever decide to drink it from the bottle (not that you experts would) look our for the foil. Its not your standard aussie beer.

Sampled at RBESG 2005 - vintage 2004.
Pours an ugly muddy color with a fluffy off-white head. Malty and earthly aroma with a dusty and somewhat fusty edge. Dry and rancid flavor of malt, yeast and spices with little alcohol present. Ordinary.
