2008 edition, with a vigoursly hirsute gentleman on label. Almost purple burgundy in colour, small off white head and a few small bubbles up the side of the glass. Sweet fermented blueberries aroma, mildly bitter, smooth. I’ll put 3 away for this time next year.

(2007 Edition) Cloudy burnt orange body will I guess it’s really more brown, with zero cap I mean not even a single bubble floating on top. Where the hell are all the bubbles??? Aroma is impressing me, mild alc, bubble gum, wood, figs. It’s all very nice smelling but a touch on the mild side. Taste is very smooth but a little on the sweet side for my liking and has way to much alcohol is showing up in the finish for only 7.5%. There is a slight vanilla flavour or possibly rye. Cherry also starts to be noticed in the bottom half of the glass. Mouth feel seems soft. I normally love this style of beer but this one just isn’t doing it for me, it’s too sweet and syrupy but does remain drinkable."

Small, creamy and off-white head. Fair lacing. Muddy, thick and dark amber body. Aroma: moderate malt, cherry, red wine, cask wood. Initial and final flavor: light sweetness and moderate bitterness. Palate: medium full body, creamy texture, lively carbonation and chalky and light alcoholic finish. Delicious bitterness, more pronounced than a Bitter’s, permeated by a balanced sweetness. 340s

Bottle (2008). Pours dark amber with a medium white head. Aroma of caramel, molasses, dried fruit, toffee and light alcohol notes. The flavour is caramel, molasses, dried fruit and alcohol. Medium bodied with a chewy mouthfeel. Good carbonation and the alcohol gives off some warmth in the finish. A nice beer, though I’ll leave a bottle in the cellar as time would surely favour this ale.

By far the best brew from Coopers, which I think is the best well know brewery in Australia. Pours nice and dark with a good amount of head. Nice strong alcohol percentage due to heavy malting and smooth hops. Great brew.

Bottle at Coco’s Outback, Amsterdam. Hazy amber body with tan head. Malty and sweet nose. Tastes of malt, caramel, toffee. Warming and went down well watching Barcelona beat United. Bitter in the finish.

Interesting beer. Got this at Sam’s in Chicago last week. Poured with a tan head and a few drops of dark sediment. Color is a very hazy dark amber to brown. Nose is some malt, caramel, toffee, nougat, and varnish. No lace and head mostly subsides quickly. Flavor is malty, toffee, a bit bitter from yeastoids, Thinner than I would have supposed. Think it’ll get much better with some time. Do pick up the alcohol. Good carbonation. Finish is ok.

Hazy brown pour with particles. This bottle had about 2 and a half years of age in the store. Head was nearly non-existent. Bourbony vanilla aroma. Very smooth, like bourbon, also creamy roasty, wood notes were prevalent. Not extra special, but pretty good.
