Commercial Description:
(In-house only) Brewed in January, but not served until December, Black Powder is the biggest, strongest beer we make. Hints of oak, pineapple, and sherry in the aroma and flavor of this very full-body ale make it perfect for sipping on cold winter nights.

Clear ruby red with a light tan head. Sharp sour grass and vegetable aroma. Rubber-like flavor with some plum and with a syrupy "candy corn" flavor. A bit unpleasant, but a big malt backbone.

Draft. This strong barley wine tastes great, and put me under after having a couple of other Coopersmith's beers with my dinner. Actually I should say that it was the stout float for dessert that put me under, but it was the barley wine that was the cause. Good stuff if you happen to be there in winter when they make it.

Couldn't really see the color in the bar, but it appeared dark amber. Thick and chewy mouthfeel. Big and sweet black licorice flavors exude throughout. Only mildly hoppy. Alcohol is hidden rather well, but this beer has a kick!
