jeremytoni (1069), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Nov 8, 2006 Had on tap at brew pub in old town Fort Collins. Beer pours nut brown, with a thin head that goes a quick enough. Nice flavor that finishes well. Kevin (1917), Colorado, USA Oct 15, 2006 tap at the brewpub. clear dark brown with orange hues and a nicefading white head. aroma is sulphur and eggs, with some cloves. woody, corklike notes at first give way to some caramel & popcorn. a bit of roastiness is present too, a lot of burned popcorn in this. thin mouthfeel. Ernest (4481), Boulder, Colorado, USA Oct 24, 2005 Draught, Coopersmiths, Ft Collins.
Head is mostly diminishing.
Body is light amber (??).
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain, cookie, caramel), with light notes of banana and clove.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
Honestly, if it hadn’t said "Duneklweizen", I might have not even guessed it was supposed to be a dark German wheat. There’s precious little banana or clove character, and it’s quite pale in color. The overall impression was one of vagueness. It’s not bad so much as not achieving what it set out to be. BeerandBlues2 (3201), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Oct 22, 2005 Draught at CooperSmiths. Pours light brass to bronze with a tiny off-white head and spotty lacing. Wheat malt (cookie, meal) and banana yeast aroma. Wheat malt and yeast flavor with acidic bitter hop notes. Medium and clean, crisp palate. Crosling (1854), Loveland, Colorado, USA Nov 15, 2004 Light Brown. Light in color, considering the style. Things begins with an interesting and flashy aroma with a huge dose of chocolate covered bananas, heavy clove and nutmeg along with a scoop of Peter Pan’s creamy peanut butter. Decent in flavor with a variety of fruits, clove, strong wheat and a big shot of nuts on the finish (especially cashews). A nice beer that got me interested in the style again.
