Oct 5, 2004 2004 bottle. Pours a mahogany brown, with some darker coal black colors and a big tan head. Aroma has hints of treacle and molasses, good strong coffee roast with lightly sweet notes. Flavor is roasty, lightly bitter and has tons of coffee. For a coffee porter, this one provides ample sweet chocolate/caramel malting, a bit of dry nuttiness on the finish and very little thinning. That seems to be the kicker for me lately with porters; Does it get watery and thin?? Not this one (not much anyways). Pretty good chewy texture with a good medium body.

Sep 27, 2004 A growler filled with this one from the Brewery, I hauled this all the way back home and had to wait 4 days to sample. Shame on me because I probably wasted the flavor of this one. Dark brown hue with minimal head. sweet raison smell, coffee taste on the beginning, with sweet finish. I like this one alot.

Sep 14, 2004 Very deep red with a big tan head. Nice sheets of lace. Smokey, sweet earthy aroma. Sweet and malty upfront and finish is great bitter hops. Wonderful balance.

Sep 2, 2004 Dark ruby brown with moderate tan head and nice lacing. Bit of roasty malt in the aroma with some coffee. Sweet malt with a kiss of dark fruit gives way to coffee roast bitterness in the finish. Palata is light for a porter but nice. Nice beer.

Aug 26, 2004 This is one of the best english brown porters Ive had in a while. I had this on tap at the Ommegang belgian fest ’04. Nice dark brown color and lasting head. Lots of chocolate malts and no roastiness which is what I love in a porter. Sweet and smooth finish. Awesome.

Aug 26, 2004 Really solid porter. Decent coffe aroma. Good slightly opaque black appearance with a medium tan head. Flavor wasn’t too overpowering, but very good. Nice chocolate and coffee taste. Slightly dry good smooth malty, thin finish.

Jun 27, 2004 Deep, dark ruby brown with a big, frothy tan head. Roasted coffee nose with some traces of chocolate and caramel. The mouthfeel was decent. Medium bodied with a slight carbonation that detracts. Flavor was of a decent cup of joe with some sweetness and some acidity. Definitely could be called off the bench often to pinch hit for better porters and will come through. Guess that analogy has been used over and over.

May 30, 2004 tap. Dark brown with no head. Hoppy and roasty. Ok beer. The flavors don’t blend very well with this one. Ok.
